TED TALK ANALYSIS: ELIZABETH GILBERT-YOUR ELUSIVE CREATIVE GENIUS

The ted talk I chose to talk about confronts one topic; elusive creative genius. During this Ted talk, Elizabeth spoke on the success for speakers or writers and how that is directly linked to suffering. Creativity does not mean overall mortality, or death but Elizabeth has brought that issue to the forthfront. In ancient Greek and ancient Rome they did not believe a genius or creative was something that come from human beings, as stated in the video, however they believe this was derived from a "devine attending spirit". This idea went on until the Renaissance period where they began to understand that humans can hold a level the level of creativity showed in their work.

Throughout the video Elizabeth gave example after example on how creativity is just a expression of one self and not a timeline for someone to call them crazy or for them to die. I have come to understand that our thoughts or idea may be "different" than others and that does not take anything away from you or the idea, its just creativity. Elizabeth uses multimodal text to connect to her readers with her creativity, and shes using this platform to help these same writers and readers understand that their creativity is safe.

Throughout the years, when you hear of someone making it big or writing the next New York times top seller, they eventually are linked to the same story years after their success: drinking, drugs, sex, etc. What Elizabeth has done in her TED talk is get her listeners to understand that those are idea put into your minds that you do not have to follow. Because you are filthy successful one day doesn't mean you must turn to anyone or any substance because of that, but instead people should put more effort into making another book. In the few mins at the of her talk, Elizabeth discuss artistry and how a lot of creative thinkers do not have the accessibility to simple things such as paper, or pens. These artist struggle to get their thoughts out but instead as artist they must understand those thoughts are what to lead to setbacks. An artist must remember that he/she is a artist but human, don't allow the illusion of crazy override the beauty in their work.
